Influence even when they are not in the room... The commonly used definition of integrity is "what you do when no one is watching." Within our Academy, we also teach that leadership and influence are ALSO about what you do when those you influence are not in the room. Leadership is about being accountable for those in our care even when they can't see or hear us... Like Bob Burg has shared and believes in as one of his core tenets, we also love the practice of Reverse Gossip. As leaders we are responsible for being a champion of this concept. Even deeper, do we also develop and encourage people indirectly by having their interest and success in mind when we interact with others on their behalf? Can I actually help in their development even when they can't see it or hear it directly? Interesting concept that creates the ultimate intentionality about those we lead. Lead them even when they are not in the room. Thoughts?
